One of the bigger book projects I worked on over the last few years was the new edition of ‘The Little Owl : Population dynamics, behaviour and management of Athene noctua’ by Dries Van Nieuwenhuyse, Ronald van Harxen and David H. Johnson. The book is over 600 pages and I provided all the artworks. It describes all fourteen subspecies of the little owl with up-to-date scientific information and illustrated plates of the birds in their most typical habitat. As they have a very large range, these birds have adapted to a variety of habitats and evolved differently in size and plumage. The research took me on a virtual journey from Denmark to Somalia and from the UK to China. I’m very excited to have had the opportunity to dive deeper into the world of these fascinating birds.
